O Sycamore Gap, local onde Marcela e Christian estariam me esperando, é famoso porque aparece no filme Robin Hood de Kevin Costner, logo no início. O sicômoro é a árvore onde o garotinho sobe para escapar de seus perseguidores. Mas ainda faltava uma milha. Um holandês, ao passar por mim, perguntou se eu tinha visto sua esposa, que “usava um grande chapéu branco”. Seria impossível não ver. Infelizmente não pude ajudá-lo, e ele prosseguiu meio aflito.

Sycamore Gap, where Marcela and Christian would be waiting for me, is famous because it appears in Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood movie. Right in the beginning, a boy climbs this very tree to escape from his pursuers. But there was still one mile to go. A Dutchman passed by, and asked me if I had seen his wife, who was “wearing a big white hat”. It couldn’t go unseen… but unfortunately I couldn’t help him and he hurried ahead in distress.

Neste ponto, pela única vez na trilha, fui envolvida por uma nuvem de insetos. Foi preciso caminhar uns cinco minutos agitando os braços para espantá-los. /
At this point I was engulfed by a cloud of insects, tiny mosquitos, the only ones I met along the footpath. I had to walk for five minutes waving my arms to get rid of them.
Enfim, ali estava o famoso sicômoro. / At last, the renowned sycamore.
SycamoreGap é com certeza o lugar mais fotografado da trilha. Mesmo pelada a árvore é linda./ Sycamore Gap is surely the most depicted place of the footpath. Even bare the tree is awesome.
Christian e sua mãe já estavam lá. Christian was already there with his mother.
